Shiro (and Detrivore) Swatch Post

Aaages ago I did a Shiro haul, I'm finally posting the pictures. Most of these shadows and lip colours are actually available unlike the Darling Girl haul I posted earlier. This haul also includes a few Detrivore shadows, as Shiro now stock Detrivore. As before all the shadows and lip products are photographed in natural light. Lip products are swatched on bare skin, eyeshadows are swatched over primer on the left and pixie epoxy on the right. Descriptions are all straight from the Shiro website.

First up these are the three Shiro shades I bought; I Loved A Maid, Chimera and Kooloo-Limpa

Shiro I Loved A Maid Swatch
I loved a maid as fair as summer, with the sunlight in her hair. She was a crofter’s daughter. And she loved me.

I Loved A Maid is a green-shifting gold shining out over a base of softened Lannister crimson. Lip-safe!

Shiro Chimera Swatch
The fusing of animals with human beings oftentimes produces tragic results, but that’s the price of scientific advancement. Cave Johnson would approve!

Chimera is a complex and unique blend – looks coppery in the jar, then applies as tarnished gold and silver shimmer over a blackened background. Lip-safe!

Shiro Kooloo Limpa Swatch
Kooloo Limpa - Satiny peach with green and red sparkles. Lip safe!
Tingle, Tingle! Kooloo-Limpah! I may be 32, but I still believe I am a fairy.
And these are the three Detrivore shades I picked up; Hypothesis, Autopsy and Scar

Shiro Detrivore Swatches

Shiro Detrivore Hypothesis Swatch

Hypothesis is a medium satin taupe with subtle pink tones.

Shiro Detrivore Autopsy Swatch

Autopsy is a matte cream highlight.

Shiro Detrivore Scar Swatch

Scar is a pale taupe with a violet shift.

And finally the GWP, Hodor
Shiro Hodor Swatch

“Hodor,” hodored Hodor. “Hodor hodor hodor!”

“HODOR, STOP HODORING.”
Hodor is a medium near-matte taupe. Lip-safe!

These are the lip products I picked up, two of the Miyazaki inspired balm stains and a sample of one of the new Nic Cage Through the Ages lipglosses

Shiro Tinted Balm Swatch

Once you do something, you never forget. Even if you can’t remember.
It's Called Love - Summery medium coral, a match for our former Why Not Zoidberg color.

A heart’s a heavy burden.
Who Swallowed a Star - Bright coral-orange in the tube, applies a bit pinker than you might expect! Will leave behind a light stain.

Shiro Nic Cage Gloss Swatch

The invention of the disco ball came about one night after Nic Cage, at the tender age of five, accidentally sat on a mirror. The shards stuck to his bum and reflected the lasers which happened to be around, throwing off glorious scatterings of multicolored light which made everyone want to dance. Unfortunately, the name “Nicso ball” did not stick.
Nic Cage Getting Funky With That Saturday Night Fever - Super sheer purple with bright orange sparkle.

When I bought these I also picked up two of the intertubes as they were on sale due to being discontinued. I swatched them anyway, because they're pretty, and you never know someone might have them in a blog sale! (Not me, I love them).

Shiro Yo Dawg Nyan Cat Swatch

Everything (except the now-discontinued intertubes) can be purchsed from Shiro Cosmetics online store. http://shirocosmetics.com/
Eyeshadows range from $1.00 for sample size to $6.00 for full size.
Tinted balms are only fullsize and $5.00
Lip glosses are $2.00 for a sample and $8.00 for fullsize.
Shiro also offer custom glosses of any of their lip safe colours or will try to 'colour match' for you, priced between $9.00 and $13.00.

MakeUp Revolution Lipstick Swatches and First Impressions

After seeing Hannah post about MakeUp Revolution and their awesome crazy lipstick shades I may have gotten a bit over excited and very quickly placed an order, one which arrived even more quickly! Within two-three days in fact. I picked up three lipsticks from their Scandalous Collection, one from their Vamp Collection and an eyeshadow that looked a lot like NYX Taupe blush to try as a contour (having forgotten I just bought the NYX Taupe on eBay, oops!). I'll be posting about that eyeshadow later, first the most exciting bit - lipstick!

The packaging for these is lovely, very much like the MUA lipsticks and the Collection Deluxe range, with a sophisticated looking black case and the colour sample of the lipstick on the end. As far as I can tell the ends of these don't come off, unlike some other brands though that might just be me lacking strength or missing the knack to taking them off. If anyone knows please do tell me. Once they were opened I will admit my first impression was that the lipsticks looked a bit cheap, slightly plasticky with the seam along the side, but looks aren't everything and if I had judged these as plasticky just from the looks I would be so so wrong! These lipsticks are soft and smooth on application, they feel super moisturising and luxurious. The closest comparison I have in my small lipstick stash for the feel is the Revlon Super Lustrous. I can't comment on wear time for all of the shades, as I've only swatched most and to be fair these are mostly not shades I would wear on a day to day basis – more for creative or night out things. However I did wear Vice for a day and it lasted a couple of hours though that was with ecigarette use which would wear away some of the colour. It didn't last through eating and there does look like some staining at the edges of my lips, though this is also where the last of the lipstick stays as it wears away. So not the longest lasting of products, but for £1 not atrocious. Application is mostly great, I had a few issues with Immoral and 100% Vamp to get full even coverage, but I think those issues could probably be solved with a lipliner or foundation base to erase some of my lip colour.

Swatches:

For reference this is what my lips look like makeup free:

MakeUp Revolution Immoral Swatch

Immoral is one of the shades I was most excited about, I mean when do you see a blue lipstick for a reasonable price? Especially one of this quality. It's a lovely baby blue shade, and really creamy - though as you can see this caused me some problems with application being a little streaky. I think this could be fixed by using foundation to lighten my lips under the lipstick, as mine are quite pink which is showing through. This is a gorgeous and unique shade though, and I can't wait to do some fun looks with it. (And if they ever release a green I'll be all over that like white on rice, I've never seen a real green for under £10).

MakeUp Revolution Vice Swatch

Vice. Hello perfect summer shade! This is a gorgeous, gorgeous orange, much more wearable than it looks in the tube and just the perfect bold summer lip. This was probably my favourite to apply, went on like butter and with a beautifully even colour. Zero effort for maximum payoff, I am in love.

Depraved was the colour I was most excited for, and hasn't disappointed. Granted, not a colour I'm at all brave enough to wear often, but like Vice it applied absolutely beautifully and the colour is so opaque and feels amazing on the lips. Pastels are so spring and this would be a great spring shade for braver girls (or guys!) than me. Still planning to wear it in fun looks, no way is this lipstick going unloved.

MakeUp Revolution 100% Vamp Swatch

100% Vamp is another purple, I do love purples, and a gorgeous deep dark shade. So it might be spring, I'm a sucker for a dark lip. I spotted this browsing and thought it would be the perfect replacement for my Accessorize lipstick in Passionate, which is a great dark purple but also drying and patchy as hell. This isn't drying, however it does have some slight patchyness on application for me.You can see it most on the top lip in these swatches. I'll still be picking this up for nights out and it'll get a lot of love in autumn and winter.

I'm supposed to be saving money otherwise I'd probably place another order for more lipsticks right now, they have so many great shades and at £1 each they are amazing value for money!

Makeup Revolution is available from the Makeup Revolution website or Superdrug. These lipsticks cost £1 each (as do a great many other products in their range)

Rimmel Apocalips Eclipse and Celestial Swatches

Today I have swatches of two of the much-loved Rimmel Apocalips lip laquers. I believe Eclipse is a newer release, though I'm not 100% sure. Swatch photos were taken in natural light.

Rimmel Apocalips Celestial

Rimmel Apocalips Celestial

Rimmel Apocalips Celestial Swatch

Rimmel Apocalips Celestial Swatch

Celestial is a gorgeous dusty pink shade, sort of 'my lips but way better' and natural enough to wear to work. Which is what I have been doing with this shade.

Rimmel Apocalips Eclipse

Eclipse did not want to photograph properly for me! The hand swatch is way more accurate to what I see in the mirror, which is a deep vampy red. It looks a true blood red on me, perhaps a little blue toned, and I love it. This is the lip colour I wore on New Years Eve and is now my go-to red.

With both shades I find these last for several hours, and don't feel sticky or unpleasant, although I do get a fair bit of transfer when eating/drinking/blowing my nose etc. Though I think that is to be expected with a gloss.

Rimmel Apocalips are available from Boots, Superdrug and most major supermarkets and have an RRP of £5.99

Shiro Cosmetics Halloween Collection Swatches

Shiro Cosmetics Halloween Swatches

I ordered a few shades from Shiro's Nightmare Before Christmas inspired Halloween collection, as well as a couple of her awesome intertubes. I love that she includes a sweet with your order, mini tootsie pops are awesome by the way!

All shadows are swatched over Pixie Epoxy and photographed in natural light, intertubes are swatched on bare lips. Shade descriptions are taken from the Shiro website.

Finkelstein - One part genius, two parts evil, tied together with a generous splash of madness and a particular fondness for wormswort.
Somewhat sheer, ultra-pale ghoulish green-yellow-grey with blue shimmer. Not lip-safe

Ragdoll - And though I'd like to stand by him,
Can't shake this feeling that I have...
The worst is just around the bend.
Lightly faded rust matte base filled with lilac and blue sparkles. Lip-safe!

Zero - Zero, glowing spectral white - won't you lead my sleigh of fright?
Sheer, lightly metallic grey-red. Lip-safe!
The grey was hard to pick up, but you can see it on the far right of the swatch.

Oogie Boogie [GWP sample] - The sound of rolling dice to me is music in the air
'Cause I'm a gambling Boogie Man, although I don't play fair.
It's much more fun, I must confess, with lives on the line.
Not mine, of course, but yours, old boy - now that'll be just fine!
Swampy green-beige with a muted velvety finish; the intensity of the green tones depends on the light. Not lip-safe.

Trololo - An homage to the most excellent Eduard Khil. <3

Color: Vivid, slightly reddened tangerine.
Flavor: Unflavored.

Me Gusta -
I asked my friend Matt, the creator of the Me Gusta meme, if he would like to choose the flavor for this lip product. His immediate response was "TACO SEASONING." And that is why this color is unflavored.

Color: Pure, solid black. Like Matt's soul.
Flavor: Unflavored.
Opacity: May be applied sheer or built up to moderate opacity.
Stains: Will stain clothes but not lips - please use with caution!

shiro cosmetics me gusta swatch

My favourites are Zero, Ragdoll and Trololo. Me Gusta is perfect for Halloween though [and other times], abbeit a little patchy applied by brush. Though that could be my failure as far as lip products go, I'm not great with brushes.

Everything you see here can be purchased from Shiro Cosmetics online store.
