I do apologise for the lateness of this. I had most of it
written up already, and was just putting the finishing touches to it and sorting
out some of the wishlist and links when
I got the news that my Grandma had been taken into hospital. She deteriorated
very quickly once she got in there and there was nothing they could do for her
other than keep her comofortable. She died at 12:30 this morning. So I hope you
understand why this is late. I’ll try to get enough posts drafted for a few
weeks (keeping busy stops me breaking down) but please be patient with me in
the aftermath of this. My grandma has been a massive part of my life over the
years and this has been a pretty hefty blow.
The Good
♥ Parks and Recreation. I finally got into it, and I may
have binge watched every season and now I’m kind of heartbroken
♥ Felicia Day’s Autobiography – You’re Never Weird on the
Internet. I’m not a gamer, but I am a massive nerd and I’ve loved Felicia for
years, same with Geek and Sundry and all the stuff she puts out there. I knew a
little about her through reading and listening to various interviews but I
learned so much more, and I found so many more things I related to. Experiences
similar to things that might happen to me. She’s just wonderful. If you like
Felicia Day or just want to read to really geeky, really relatable book then
this is one for you (okay, maaaaybe you need to be a bit of a geek There are
geeky references, but she does ‘hold your hand’ a bit – I needed some of the
fancy tech and some of the gaming terms explaining and she explained them all).
Well, I listened to it on audiobook read by Felicia, but it’s all the same.
♥ BANK HOLIDAY Y’ALL!
♥ Not actually good but I found this overly amusing

The Bad
x The Blogger cookies notification thing. I get why and I
appreciate it and all but blooming ‘eck it’s so annoying when I’m going through
on Bloglovin’ and having to close up the cookies thing every time. It takes up
too much space to ignore.
x Illness. August has been another month where I’ve had a
hospital admission, plus some of my own illness. And I've chipped one of my front teeth, plus two of my back teeth are cracked or broken. I'll have dentures before long.
x Grandma. That’s the biggest of them all.
New Things I Subscribed to This Month:
The Wanted
1) Become a Scientist
oh so true || 2) the Wraith
one day I will be rich and then very quickly poor again, but very snazzily
dressed || 3) Hooded Cape
I like capes okay?
August 28 – Real Life Geeks Who Inspire Me
Stephen Hawking. All of the ways all of the time. He has
overcome so much in his life and yet he still has an amazing sense of humour,
not to mention the sheer intelligence and insight there. Hawking is amazing.
Felicia Day. For all of the reasons I loved her
autobiography. She’s so relateable and yet she turned something she loved
(video games) into something which is practically an empire. They filmed the
Guild in her garage on as little money as they possibly could, scraping
together donations and trash to decorate and build props and since then it’s
grown into Geek and Sundry which is just so massive and so well known in geeky
circles. Frankly she is amazing and I wish I had even a fraction of her passion.
Chris Hardwick. He’s overcome alcoholism and anxiety and
built an empire of his own – Nerdist Industries. He genuinely loves the geeky
things he loves, and while he doesn’t know everything he’s passionate about
both his interests and his work. I think he’s pretty awesome.
I only have three and my brain doesn’t work. Sorry.
I'm so sorry hun. Take care xxxx (and yes those blogger cookies things are *really* annoying).
ReplyDeleteThe bloggers cookie thing is so annoying! Couldn't they make it smaller?
ReplyDeleteI loved this bank holiday :)
