Geek Chic Superneutrals Swatches

More of the massive haul from my Geek Chic gift card (except King of Hell, which I already own and included for completeness). $25 buys you a lot of samples (and I pretty much exclusively buy indie pigments in sample size since they last me forever). These are all shadows from the thing of beauty that is their Supernatural inspired Superneutrals collection, as if I could resist!

Geek Chic Superneutrals Collection Swatches

Shadows are swatched over Pixie Epoxy and photographed in natural light. Shade descriptions are from the Geek Chic cosmetics site, with non-italicized additions from me.

Geek Chic Baby Swatch

"On April 21, 1967, the 100 millionth GM vehicle rolled off the line at the plant in Janesville--a blue two-door Caprice. There was a big ceremony, speeches, the lieutenant governor even showed up. Three days later, another car rolled off that same line. No one gave two craps about her. But they should have. because that 1967 Chevrolet Impala would turn out to be the most important car--no, the most important object--in pretty much the whole universe.
The Impala, of course, has all the things other cars have... and a few things they don't. But none of that stuff's important. This is the stuff that's important. The Army man that Sam crammed in the ashtray--it's still stuck there. The Legos that Dean shoved into the vents. To this day, heat comes on, and you can hear 'em rattle. These are the things that make the car theirs. Really theirs. Even when Dean rebuilt it from the ground up, he made sure all these little things stayed. 'Cause it's the blemishes that made her beautiful."

Baby is a semi-matte, deep toned black with very little shimmer.

Geek Chic Born Under A Bad Sign Swatch
Geek Chic Born Under A Bad Sign Swatch

"Nothing says family business like the whole family being dead."
Sam Winchester wasn't the luckiest of guys. And not just the 'losing his shoe' kind of back luck. More like the kind of luck where every girl you sleep with dies, the kind of luck where you get fed demon blood as a baby, and the kind of luck where you watch your brother die 104 times. (The rest of his family is also very dead.) Did we mention he's also Lucifer's vessel? Yeah.
Good luck, Sammy.

Born Under A Bad Sign is a plush mahogany brown with a copper fire and bursts of beautiful blue sparkle.

Geek Chic Idjits Swatch

"You stupid, stupid son of a bitch. Well, boo-hoo! I am so sorry your feelings are hurt, princess! Are you under the impression that family's supposed to make you feel good, make you an apple pie, maybe? They're supposed to make you miserable! That's why they're family!"
What does Bobby Singer do when he has the weekend off? Build a panic room. When a hunter needs information on the newest monster on the block, someone to cover for them, or someone to save their ass, who do they call? Bobby Singer. Who is there to knock sense into Sam and Dean whenever they are about to go off the deep end? Bobby Singer. Not only that, but he was the father John Winchester couldn't be. Maybe he wasn't able to have kids of his own, but he adopted two boys. And they grew up heroes.

Idjits is a rich russet ochre with tons of gorgeous golden-green shimmer and sparkle.

Geek Chic King of Hell Swatch

“Don’t worry about … what, like Lucifer didn’t worry? Or Michael? Or Lilith? Or Alastair? Or Azazel didn’t worry? Am I the only game piece on the board who doesn’t underestimate those denim-wrapped nightmares?”
Crowley is what happens when no-one is paying attention. From a plain and simple tailor, to a demon, to crossroads demon, to king of the crossroads, to king of hell. He's really moved up the ladder. You go, Crowley. Four for you, Crowley. He isn't going to let it get to his head, though. He still has those 'denim-wrapped nightmares' to worry about. Those Winchesters are like weeds.

King of Hell is a luscious charcoal base with reddish-pink fire and pops of red and orange sparkle.

Geek Chic Morningstar Swatch
Geek Chic Morningstar Swatch

"I was a son. A brother, like you, a younger brother, and I had an older brother who I loved. Idolized, in fact. And one day I went to him, and I begged him to stand with me. And Michael... Michael turned on me. Called me a freak, a monster. And then he beat me down, all because I was different. Because I had a mind of my own. Tell me something Sam, any of this sound familiar?"

Sam Winchester and Lucifer were two peas in a pod. Both younger brothers, both outcasts. The difference? Their older brother. Whereas Michael turned his back on Lucifer, Dean didn't. Instead, Dean showed up to the big prize fight just so Sammy wouldn't be alone. Maybe if Michael hadn't abandoned Lucifer, he would have turned out a little different.
Morningstar is a glitzy nude, golden-brown that is dripping in a blanket of micro diamond shimmer.
(far paler than the website swatch on me, looks almost white from a distance)

Geek Chic Rock Salt Swatch

Don't ask us why Rock Salt protects you from demons and ghosts. It just does. Trust us.
Rock Salt is a super luxe combination of micro diamond-like natural glitter mixed with gorgeous silver glitter. It glitters like a handful of crushed diamonds.

Geek Chic The Righteous Man Swatch

"I couldn't break him, pulled out all the stops, but John, he was made of something unique. The stuff of heroes. But then came Dean. Dean Winchester, I thought I was up against it again. But, daddy's little girl, he broke. He broke in thirty. Just not the man your daddy wanted you to be, huh, Dean?"

Growing up, Dean had one job: Take care of Sammy. Because that's totally healthy, right? Sacrificing everything for him will totally make your life mean something, right? Friends, family, self-worth, who needs 'em.
Thought he had a different purpose when he got dragged out of hell, a righteous one, but the angels turned out to be righteous dicks instead. He ended up stopping the apocalypse anyways. Maybe someday he'll be allowed to have a friend or two.

The Righteous Man is a cool-toned chartreuse with bright golden fire and shimmer.
(rather chunky glitter in this one, be careful and use a sticky base if you don't want too many flyaway glitter sparks.)

Geek Chic The Trickster Swatch
Geek Chic The Trickster Swatch

"Lucifer… you are my brother, and I love you. But you are a great big bag of dicks."
Okay, maybe he wasn't a Trickster... he was the Archangel, Gabriel. That's what they called him. Small details. When his family turned on each other, Gabriel chose to run away and pose as the pagan god Loki rather than choose a side. Hey, would you want to choose between which of your family members you had to kill? Sides, slow-dancing aliens and infinite Tuesdays are much more fun anyways.
He did pick a side eventually: the Winchesters.

The Trickster is a dewy golden tan with golden fire and subtle shimmer
(as with Morningstar this is far paler than the online swatch. As an aside, the quote they used is my favourite line of Gabriel's from the show. It's one of my text tones!)

I have to say I am sadly disappointed by The Trickster and Morningstar, they look so similar and both much paler than the website swatches. Which totally breaks my heart because Gabriel is one of my very favourite characters and I love Lucifer as well (odd thing to say but yes). Born Under A Bad Sign is probably my favourite, as well as King of Hell which I've waxed poetic about before. Yes the chunky glitters are a bit of a pain in the behind, but it's so pretty! And of course I love Rock Salt, I'm a glitter fiend.

All shadows can be purchased from the Geek Chic cosmetics site
Samples $1.25
Full Size $5.99
Rock Salt glitter grenade $2.99
Whole collection $40.73

And just to make this probably the most pic-heavy post on my bog, here are some images of the shadows in use:
Using: The Righteous Man across the lid and Idjits on the outer corner (as you can see the glitter fell off)

Using: Morningstar on the inner corner, The Trickster on the center of the lid and Born Under A Bad Sign on the outer corner and the crease.
