Stormtrooper Inspired Makeup

The final look for this months challenge from Dark Side Of Beauty is inspired by those tireless, poor aiming, soldiers of the Galactic Empire the Stormtrooper.

Stormtroopers were the elite soldiers of the Galactic Empire. Like Imperial-class Star Destroyers and TIE fighters, stormtroopers served as ever present reminders of the absolute power of Emperor Palpatine. These faceless enforcers of the New Order were considered an extension of the Emperor's will, and thus they often used brutal tactics as a way to keep thousands ofstar systems throughout the galaxy in line. At the height of the Empire, stormtroopers had effectively become symbols of brutality and terror. With few exceptions, they were distinguished from all other military units by their signature white armor.
Stormtrooper Inspired Makeup

Used: MAC Polished Ivory over the lid, MUA number 1 above the crease and Maybelline Color Tattoo in Endless Black for the liner.

The looks this month have been fairly simple and graphic to go with the uniforms and simple colour schemes of the characters, but I've really liked doing them. Sometimes simple and graphic is a nice step away from all the blending.

and Bonus awesome art I found on a starwars wiki here

New Years Eve Party Look

New Years Eve is all about the sparkle right? This is a silver, smoky look which should go with anything. Not sure if this is exactly what I'll be wearing tonight, but it's pretty and easy to put together. Though sadly my camera wasn't picking up the sparkle as well as it should have done.

Used: MUA Starry Night palette [BR2, BR3 and TR4 across lid and crease. TR6 in outer corner and crease as shown in swatches here], Victorian Disco Steady Aim patted over the lid. Collection Extreme felt tip liner in black with Collection Glam Crystals Hustle. Lashes are Revlon Thickening Chic. Brows were filled with MUA Starry Night TR4.

Blue and Silver

Blue and silver are very much winter colours, and good for parties!

Used: a combination of silver shades over the lid from the MUA Starry Night palette, and the black on the outer corner was also from Starry Night [I believer BR2 nd TR4, I have swatches here], the blue above the crease was Victorian Disco Clones. Liner is Black Rose Minerals Annabelle Lee on the lower lid and Collection Glam crystals in Night Fever on the upper lid.

Facilier

Another look for Nancy at Dark Side of Beauty's monthly series, Facilier - a character I am unfamiliar with but was apparently the villain from The Princess and the Frog. He's pretty cool looking either way.

I used the MUA Starry Night palette for the greys, Shiro Rupee and Wheeee for the green and pink respectively. White was an old Collection 2000 pencil liner. I can't remember the purple. Not the best drawn ace, apparently my eye creases like to ruin things. Still, this was fun, and I want to watch that film now!

Makeup Challenge: Tribal

For Aqeela's makeup challenge, this weeks theme was Tribal

The lid colour is Geek Chic Cosmetics Captain Tightpants, for the triangles and lines I used MUA's gel liner in Tribe [blue] and Underground [black]

4th July Makeup

I'm not American but the idea of trying out a Red, White and Blue look appealed to me. And hey, they're the colours on our flag too!

4th July Red White Blue Makeup

Used: MUA single in 1 on inner corner, Victorian Disco Cosmetics Godric & For the Horde layered over each other as the red on centre lid, Geek Chic Little Albatross in crease and on lower lashline, Victorian Disco Sailor Galaxia for gold liner, Victorian Disco UAV glitter on outer corner

I hope all you Americans have a great day. Did you do something patriotic with your makeup today?

Four Horseman of the Apocalypse: Death

When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, "Come and see!" I looked and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine, and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.

Death is the final horseman on the pale horse. My second favourite look I think. Plain and striking eyes, the lips were just a bit of fun. I didn't wear them out haha.

Used: MAC Polished Ivory over the lid, black from the MUA Starry Night palette, MUA Underground liner. Lips were done using Black and White Rimmel kohl liners.

Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Famine

When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come and see!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, "A quart of wheat for a day's wages, and three quarts of barley for a day's wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!"
The third horseman is Famine on the black horse. Possibly not my favourite look, drawing weighing scales is hard. Forgot to do lips for this, sorry.

Used: Maybelline Color Tattoo in Timeless Black as a base, Geek Chic Blasphemous on the inner corner, Black Rose Minerals Jet on the outer half of the lid, Darling Girl ON-X in the crease, MUA Gel liner in Underground and George liner in silver.

Couldn't for the life of me get the camera to pick up the glitter in ON-X, I took a million and six pictures, none caught it. Boo!

Purple and Orange

Inspired by the gorgeous look by Nancy I mentioned in my last Friday Favourites I decided to combine orange and purple.

Click to enlarge as always. The orange is a combination of Shiro Cheifest of Calamities and Geek Chic Captain Tightpants. Purple is Victorian Disco Shadowform and Darling Girl Sushi Flower. Liner is MUA Gel Liner in Underground with a little Victorian Disco I'm 100 Years Older Than You But It's Okay on top. Highlight is Darling Girl Saddle Up.

What do you think of this colour combination?

Prom Makeup

That I should have submitted to Aqeela's makeup challenge but I totally forgot. Please do go check out the super talented girls who actually submitted this week! You can see all of their looks here, I love Dejas, and Aqeela's was like mine [promise I didn't copy!]

I chose the colours from my Year 13 Leavers Do dress (hence the dorky picture next to it). Black and Blue are both from the MUA Starry Night palette, and the liner is Rimmel pencil.

Sailor Mercury

I did this for Toxid-Lotus's makeup challenge, you can see the other entries and this week's theme here

I really need to start writing down what I use. I know the white is MUA single in 1, and the symbol was drawn using George liner in metallic blue. I think the blue is Bubblebeam but don't quote me on that.

Femme Fatale Looks

These are a few looks I have done over the week using shadows from my Femme Fatale haul. Clicking the images should make them larger if you want to see more detail.

Femme Fatale Faerie Fire on lid, Femme Fatale Polymorph in crease. The blue liner is from George at Asda and the black is MUA Gel liner in Underground.

Shiro Cosmetics Derp on inner lid, Femme Fatale Candied Apple on outer lid, Femme Fatale Dispersion on very outer corner and in the crease. Liner is Collection 2000 Extreme Liner is black.

This is Maybelline Color Tattoo in Eternal Gold on the inner lid (used as a base), Femme Fatale Jeweled Scarab on the outer corner and crease, and Femme Fatale Unholy used as liner- it really brought out the pink sheen to it!

MUA Undress Your Skin Foundation Review

The Basics:

This foundation is described as "The perfect blend of skin-care and make up, the Undress Your Skin Illuminating Foundation covers imperfections whilst maintaining your skins natural glow. With light-diffusing particles this product is designed to create that instant radiance on your skin." via  MUA

Swatches:

This is just the foundation, no concealer.

My Opinion:

The foundation comes in shades from porcelain to golden [I think there are three shades, but MUA doesn't have all of them listed], not the best of ranges especially for the darker skintone end of the spectrum. I'm pretty pale and I found the porcelain shade works well for me, and doesn't make me look yellow like most budget foundations!
I don't like the squeezy tube. Firstly there's a lot of air in the tube compared to product so all the extra takes up space and it somewhat a waste of material, secondly I squeeze out too much on a regular basis so I'm wasting product, which is a shame.
As far as coverage and wear goes I've found this really good. It covers most of my minor blemishes so I don't need as much concealer, and it lasts pretty much the whole day on me except for my nose but I'm yet to find a foundation that doesn't turn funny on my nose. I don't know if it's the oil or just the texture of my skin. Without primer I do find my cheeks can lose foundation, the dry skin and rough texture I have there makes my foundation appear uneven and a little flaky after a while. However if I use primer it really does last until the evening.

Positives:

Budget friendly. Perfect for my skin tone - not yellow! Lasts all day.Decent coverage.

Negatives:

Packaging. Poor shade range.

Where to Buy:

The MUA Undress Your Skin foundation can be purchased from Superdrug or MUA online for £5.00

Few Looks From This Week

Just a couple of looks from this week, including a couple of challenge looks. I tried my best to remember what I've used but forgive me if I get anything wrong.

For Toxid-Lotus's weekly challenge, Spring theme.
I used daffodils as my inspiration for the colours because daffodils remind me of spring.
Products:
Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Eternal Gold as a base, Shiro Chiefest of Calamities (orange in inner corner), Shiro Cornucopia (yellow across lid), Shiro Rupee (green in crease), MAC Polished Ivory (highlight), MUA gel liner in Underground,  George eyebrow pencil, Maybelline falsies mascara, 17 Hot Chilli lipstick.

For Aqeela's Makeup Tag Pink & Black
My pink looks very red, I have zero clue why.
Products Used:
Shiro Wheeeeeee! (pink on lid and in leopard print), unknown brand eyeshadow trio in Diamonds (black and white in crease and corners), MUA gel liner in Underground (liner and brows)

Inspired by Phyrra's Tangerine and Mint look using Shiro's Farore's Wind and Geek Chic's Captain Tightpants

Just some leopard print fun with a selection of Geek Chic shadows - Captain Tightpants, Antiquetarian, Antedelluvian and Madness [for the leopard print]

Kenzi from Lost Girl

So as you may have noticed I'm a bit obsessed with Lost Girl at the moment, and Kenzi has the kind of style I love (and wish I could pull off!). Plus her makeup is pretty awesome and the kind of dark smokey look I love.

See? Awesome style.

This is the makeup I tried to emulate, using pretty much soley MUA products (not on purpose either!)

Kenzi Lost Girl inspired makeup
Kenzi Lost Girl inspired makeup
I used the MUA Starry Night palette and gel liner in Underground on my eyes with the George eyebrow pencil and Maybelline falsies mascara I usually use. I also used the MUA Undress Your Skin foundation. Lips are the Rimmel Apocolips in Galaxy.

Contact lenses are blue three toned funky eyes lenses from foureyez. I took them out soon after as my eyes aren't amazing with lenses and it's just easier in general

Fluttershy Inspired Makeup

Fluttershy is a pegasus pony with a light yellow body, cyan eyes and a pink mane and tail. She speaks in a quiet, soft voice. She is sweet and calm, but often very shy around others. However, she can become forceful and assertive if her friends are placed in danger. Fluttershy loves and cares for all animals and is willing to help them at any cost, but is very fearful of many things. Fluttershy represents the Element of Kindness (via wikipedia)

Fluttershy is my favourite from the "mane six". And very like me in that we're both super shy (I am in real life not sure if that is evident on the internet) and love animals. If Luna and Fluttershy melded together the resulting pony would be me - dark colours, socially awkward, shy and animal loving. Yep xD

Eyes:
Shiro Slave 23 over lid, Magic from the Glinda palette in crease and on outer V, TR2 from MUA Glamour Days palette on lower lashline, MUA Gel liner in tribe, Eyelene heartbreaker false lashes, George eyebrow pencil.

Lips:
MUA Lipstick shade 7

Toxid Lotus Makeup Challenge: I Heart Sharks

I love weekly makeup challenges. They're a cool way of getting inspiration and just mixing up what I do. This was particularly fun and quite challenging as I had no idea what kind of make up I could do for sharks!

For the Toxid Lotus Weekly Makeup Challenge
The shape was inspired by a sharks dorsal fin, and the colours were from sharks and the sea.
Products used:
Eyes:
Fyrinnae Work Safe Blue over lid
Shiro Bubblebeam in crease
MUA Gel Liner in Underground on top lid and Tribe on lower lashline
Rimmel White Kohl on waterline
Maybelline Falsies Mascara
George eyebrow pencil

Lips:
17 Lasting Fix lipstick in Hot Chilli

Face:
MUA Undress Your Skin foundation in Porcelain
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer in 1

This was great fun and I don't think I did the theme justice, but I do like my look and hopefully I'll be able to do the challenge again next week :)

MUA Nail Constellation Leo and Libra

I am so far behind! I was meant to put this post up a while ago. I picked up two of the MUA Nail Constellations during their £2 offer on them in my big MUA Haul.
I never really understood the caviar nails thing, it looked messy and not a lovely texture, but these looked so pretty and they were only £2 so I thought it would be worth an attempt.

MUA Nail Constellation Libra
This was my very first attempt at these, by smooshing my finger in the beads once I'd poured them into a dish. It didn't turn out so well, as you can see! It made for a very lumpy looking nail, so I wouldn't advise doing this. I put a top coat over and it lasted until I took it off the next day. Libra itself is beautiful, a base of black beads with a smattering of pale blue thrown in there, like a genuine night sky.

MUA Nail Constellation Leo
MUA Nail Constellation Leo
This time I just sprinkled the beads over a wet nail which made for a much prettier effect, way less blobby but also way more messy - even using a bowl to sprinkle over. I didn't put a topcoat over this to test it, it lasted all of a few hours. However part of that is down to the fact I couldn't stop messing with it because it felt so rough and unusual. The tip wear is insane on this either way.
Leo itself is very pretty and bright and spring-y, mostly pink beads with a few blue scattered throughout.

Overall they are gorgeous looking, but you do need a topcoat over them to make them last more than a day, which can cause the colour in the beads to bleed - leaving you with a lot of white beads stuck on your nail. Removal is also a giant pain in the butt, I had to peel off Libra after I'd put the topcoat over it, it just did not want to come off even after being soaked in nail varnish remover for a while.

For me these are way more trouble than they're worth, I'm not a fan of the feeling of the beads on my nails, and either they fall off quickly or they're a massive pain to remove. Maybe if you're in love with the look these are a good option as they are super affordable, but for me it's been a lesson in learning to trust my instincts when it comes to trends and things I probably won't like!

Nail Constellations are available at Superdrug or MUA online and retail for £3.

Holy Rainbows Batman!

So this week I took part in Aqueela's Weekly Makeup Challenge, the theme was rainbows and it was great fun to try out a rainbow look (something I haven't done since College, over four years ago!). Everyone else did some amazing looks too, I love Hanna, Deja and Danielles!

This is the look I came up with:

I'm kinda proud :)
Products used:
Eyes: (from inner corner outwards) Fyrinnae Scarlet Macaw, Shiro Chiefest of Calamities, Shiro Cornucopia, Shiro There And Back Again, Shiro Bubblebeam, Fyrinnae Mystical Hedgehog (crease and lower lashline). Revlon False Lashes in Golden Saturn, MUA gel liner in Underground, Rimmel white kohl eyeliner George eyebrow pencil
Lips: Shiro Intertubes in Magnets

Please remember to check out the rest of the amazing looks here!
