Supernatural Makeup: Gabriel

"Gabriel, okay? They call me Gabriel."

The Archangel Gabriel, the youngest of the four, he just hated seeing everyone fight. He wanted it to be over, so he jumped ship, carved out his own special little niche in witness protection and tried to ignore the whole ordeal. Until the Winchesters showed up and threw some home truths his way. Poor Gabriel, he could have been so happy, in a loveable murderous way, eating sweets and dealing out just desserts.

Gabriel is my favourite ever guest role over all eight seasons. He had all of four episodes and I still loved him. I still cry when I watch his last appearance, I'm hoping there's a loophole somewhere and we get the pintsized archangel back. He was funny, charming and just downright loveable. Even when he was killing people and putting poor Sammy through hell, and Dean for that matter. Thank God it's not Tuesday.
Poor Gabriel. He just wanted the fighting to stop, but he was a hero when it counted.
Oh and Richard Speight Jr has the prettiest eyes ever. Seriously, look.

"Lucifer... you are my brother, and I love you. But you are a great big bag of dicks."
Used:
Shiro Slave 23 on the inner corner, Black Rose Minerals Ein over lid, Darling Girl Soft Kitty on outer corner and crease. Wings are Victorian Disco The Great Lift and Sailor Galaxia. Liner is Geek Chic Inevitable Betrayal and Very Fine Hat. Glitter is Victorian Disco UAV.

This is a very fandom-inspired look. Though I took the liner from his jacket.

A song for Gabriel, I couldn't not.

Supernatural Makeup: Castiel

"I'm the one who gripped you tight and raised you from Perdition."

Yeah... I got bored and started making graphics.

I'm going to apologise for this now. I started out just wanting to do a Castiel inspired makeup, but it's kind of escalated from there. So expect a lot of Supernatural-inspired makeup spam for a while. At least I'm slowly climbing out of my makeup rut?
Oh and possible spoilers, because I tend to let my mouth, uh typing, run wild and free when it comes to things I feel strongly about in some way. So yeah, watch the descriptions if you're way behind.

It’s funnier in Enochian.

Poor Castiel, he just wanted to help and instead everything manages to fall apart around him while he watches his friends and family dying. No really. Poor Castiel. Always trying to do the right thing and getting his ass kicked for it, or being blown up for it - literally. He's fallen and died and done everything he can to save those he loves, but it rarely works out for the best. Cas has been an angel, a seraph, a God, a Leviathan, high, drunk, fallen and human, but he will always be Castiel, even in End!Verse.

Castiel is and probably forever will be one of my favourite Supernatural characters. There's just so much to love about the little angel who could. Even when he screws up, and lets be honest he has done a few times, it's only because he's trying to help. There's just something so endearing about him, always trying to help out and he loves people so much, even if his "people skills" are a bit "rusty" and he never understands the reference. He risked everything for the earth, and then some. And he does love Dean, in whatever way you wish to take that. Castiel cares a lot for him, and Angels were essentially created to love in the Supernatural universe. As well as kick ass obviously.

Castiel is awesome. A source of humour, pain and joy. It's just too easy to like him. [and Misha Collins is awesome too!]

Castiel: I found a liquor store.
Sam: And?
Castiel: And I drank it.

Used:
MAC Polished Ivory on the inner corner, Black Rose Minerals Skink over the lid, Innocent + Twisted Alchemy Warm & Fuzzy on the outer corner, Darling Girl The Seam in the crease, Darling Girl Saddle Up as a highlight. The "wings" are a combination of Femme Fatale Unholy and Darling Girl ON-X. Liner is Victorian Disco My Feels.

Eyebrows are George pencil, Mascara is Maybelline Falsies, rest of face was naked.

Great song for Cas here. Great song in general really.

Geek Chick Timey Wimey Swatches

Last two shadows from my Geek Chic Cosmetics order, both from the Doctor Who themed Timey Wimey collection, Bad Wolf and Bigger on the Inside.

As with all these posts, shadows were swatched over pixie epoxy and photographed in natural daylight. Descriptions in italics come from the Geek Chic website.

Bad Wolf  -a rich pearlescent royal purple woven with soft golden iridescence, studded with sparkling golden gems.

"Two words scattered across the universe, throughout time and space, following the Doctor and his companion. What is the bad wolf? Well, it's the end of the universe."

Bigger On The Inside- a TARDIS-esque blue base, glowing with metallic golden light from the heart of the time vortex, and glittering gold sparkles.

"She's a type 40 TARDIS, the last of her kind. She might not always take him where he wants to go, but she always takes him where he needs to go. She wanted to see the universe so she stole a timelord and ran away, and he was the only one mad enough."

Geek Chic Summoners and King of Hell

More Geek Chic Cosmetics swatches! This time three shadows from the newest collection Summoners and my free sample which was King of Hell from the Superneutrals collection [which happened to be on my wishlist, so that makes it even shinier].

All swatches were done over pixie epoxy and photographed in natural light. Descriptions in italics are taken from the Geek Chic Website.

1000 Needles - a gorgeous grassy green with a soft layer of golden sheen and subtle golden shimmer to it.

"What can we say about the Cactuar? The average Cactuar encounter involves a whistle, a lot of running and a fountain of little "1"s popping all over your characters as they get pelted with hundreds of tiny needles. It's so easy to underestimate the little guy, and nothing stings like getting killed by something that cute."

Hellfire - a mysterious and translucent soft maroon that ignites with a fiery red and orange glow when light hits it. It shimmers with embers of red, orange, and flashes of purple.

"Ifrit is one hot Djinn. You'll earn the horned beast's respect if you don't sic Shiva on him. "The flames of hell turn all to dust. Power will decide the victor."

Geek Chic Cosmetics Hellfire

Tidal Wave - a medium sea blue with a floating green sheen. It is sprinkled with sea green and aqua sparkle

"The source of many-a-bad-day for sailors everywhere, Leviathan isn't unreasonable... he just doesn't like being messed with. Which is too bad, because it happens a lot. Whether it's a summon gone wrong (IX), diplomacy gone wrong (XI) or an attack gone wrong (IV), Leviathan is always around to make the best of a bad situation... usually by drowning it in torrential waters."

King of Hell - a luscious charcoal base with reddish-pink fire and pops of red and orange sparkle. Very good for a truly smoky eye.

“Don’t worry about … what, like Lucifer didn’t worry? Or Michael? Or Lilith? Or Alastair? Or Azazel didn’t worry? Am I the only game piece on the board who doesn’t underestimate those denim-wrapped nightmares?”

Crowley is what happens when no-one is paying attention. From a plain and simple tailor, to a demon, to crossroads demon, to king of the crossroads, to king of hell. He's really moved up the ladder. You go, Crowley. Four for you, Crowley. He isn't going to let it get to his head, though. He still has those 'denim-wrapped nightmares' to worry about. Those Winchesters are like weeds.

Geek Chic Big Damn Heroes Swatches

I swatched three of the shades from this collection, Ambassador, Captain Tightpants and Inevitable Betrayal here, way back in February when I got them. I finally picked up the last two shades, Very Fine Hat and Little Albatross so here are some solo swatches of those two and then the whole collection swatched together.

All swatches were done over Pixie Epoxy and photos ere taken in natural light. Descriptions in italics have been taken from the Geek Chic Cosmetics website.

Little Albatross a deep, steel-blue with blue and silver sparkles. The sparkliest of the bunch.
"Way I remember it, albatross was a ship's good luck 'til some idiot killed it. Morbid and creepifying, but brilliant nonetheless. Also, she can kill you with her brain."
Geek Chic Cosmetics Little Albatross

This shade is inspired by River Tam, one of the protagonists of the show. A kick-ass, completely insane genius.

Very Fine Hat - a very blackened, dirty gold, just right for the sad little king. Deep and dark with a golden sheen lurking beneath.
"Badger is a businessman, a fine upstanding gentleman with roots in the community and yes - a very fine hat. He also got his hands on a couple of diamonds the size of- well, you know."
Geek Chic Cosmetics Very Fine Hat

This is inspired by the awesome Badger, played by the even more awesome Mark Sheppard.

And here are all of the shades swatched together, from right to left:
Ambassador, Captain Tightpants, Very Fine Hat, Inevitable Betrayal, Little Albatross

Everything can be purchased from the Geek Chic Cosmetics site, and all of these shadows are from the Big Damn Heroes Collection.

I can't pick a favourite from this collection, all the colours are amazing.

April Favourites

How the hell is it May already? Damnit.
First things first: May The Fourth Be With You haha. -Nerd-

1. Simple Day Cream. Perfect day moisturiser for me. SPF 15, which is low but works for not-too hot days, and it's light enough for combo skin.
2. The pastelly Barry M Gelly shades. Perfect spring colours :)
3. Duocrome Eyeshadows. Femme Fatale and Darling Girl make up most of my collection.
4. Caramel Cream lip butter. It works and it smells amazing.
5. Darling Girl Saddle Up & Natural Collection Duo "Mink". My go to highlight shades at the moment, Mink is more matte and Saddle Up is more shimmery :)
6. Glinda Lip pencil. My go to lip shade in April. it is the perfect "my lips but better" shade for me :)

What were your April favourites?

Iron Man Inspired Makeup

Marvelle at Blog of Shadows amazing Iron Man look inspired me to have a go at creating my own.

Mine isn't quite as cool but I used Victorian Disco Cosmetics Sailor Galaxia for the gold in the center of my lid, with Fyrinnae's Scarlet Macaw as the red around the outside. Eyeliner is Collection 2000 Glam Metallics in Punk with George Metallic blue on the waterline. The blue mascara is from Collection 2000 also.

I think this is a pretty fun and bright look. I was pleasantly surprised with how well it turned out, though I needed a darker red really. Ah well, what do you think? Anyone else an Iron Man fan?

Liner is MUA Gel Liner in Underground with a little Victorian Disco I'm 100 Years Older Than You But It's Okay on top. Highlight is Darling Girl Saddle Up.

What do you think of this colour combination?

Rimmel Apocalips Galaxy Review

The Basics:

It's the End of Colour as you know it!
The intense rich colour of a lipstick, enhanced by a satin smooth shine.
It's neither a lipstick nor a gloss... It's BIGGER than both!
LONG LIVE THE COLOUR!

Swatches:

Overview/Opinion:

First things first the packaging. I like it, the meteor themed top of the tube is pretty and unique among the various (um, five) glosses that I own. I do also like the applicator, it's a doefoot but with a dent in the middle so it holds more product. The colour of this one is stunning as well, a lovely wearable purple with microglitters! Glitter! I think this is the only one of the Apocalips that has glitter, but I could be wrong. Anyway it's a win with me, and not massive or abrasive either. I haven't found this to be massively drying, not compared to many of my lipsticks anyway, but it is drier than your average gloss. The wear time isn't great I'll admit, less than an hour on me, but if you view this more as a gloss it makes sense and isn't too bad. People have complained about the scent of these, but I really don't mind it. Maybe that's just me.

Positives:

Highly pigmented. Glitter. Pretty packaging.

Negatives:

Poor wear time. Some might dislike the smell. More drying than a gloss.

Where to Buy:

Available at Boots, Superdrug, Tesco, Asda, ASOS and Semichem priced at £5.99

Princess Luna / Nightmare Moon Inspired Makeup

I've had this uploaded to Photobucket for a while and only just spotted it again. Oops.

Princess Luna is an Alicorn pony, the younger sister of Princess Celestia. She raised and lowered the moon each night, but she becomes jealous of Celestia because the ponies sleep through the night and thus cannot appreciate her work. This jealousy eventually transforms Luna into the shadowy Nightmare Moon. Eventually, the Elements (of harmony) transform her back into Luna and she resumes her place at Celestia's side. via Wikipedia

I've had this look floating around my photobucket for a while and only just rediscovered it. My photobucket seems to like to take my uploads and stick them in totally random positions in my album, instead of just adding them to the top like a normal thing. *grumblegrumble*
Luna/Nightmare Moon is my favourite character of the series and I think this is my favourite look. I do like dark colours...

colour change on the lips:

Products used:
Eyes: Geek Chic Cosmetics Daemoniac on inner half of lid, Fyrinnae Mystical Hedgehog on outer half and above crease, Geek Chic Non-Euclidean on outer v and crease. Collection 2000 Extreme liner in black with a touch of Collection 2000 Glam Crystals in Rock Chic on outer half, Eyelure Hed Kandi lashes, Rimmel Black Kohl liner

Lips:
Fyrinnae Conjuror. (it's so pretty on lips, look at the tealy-blue shimmer) :D
